Even if Ryder agrees that the Pathfinder has more important things to do than help Shapiro, the mission is added to the Journal.
The Miniature Pallad can be only be found during the mission in Kesh's Office. Ryder has to scan the Miniature Pallad BEFORE examining the creature as it disappears right after examining it.
