Profiles

The profiles menu with the Explorer selected.

Profiles allow SAM to optimize Ryder's implant, mind, and body for a particular combat style that provides unique bonuses.

Only one profile can be active at a time, but you can switch in the Profiles page of the pause menu when you please.

Profiles are unlocked by investing in combat, tech, and biotic skills when you level up. Investing in a single skill group or a mix of skill groups will unlock more powerful profiles.

Mechanics

As skills are unlocked and upgraded over the course of the game, Pathfinder Ryder will also gain access to the profiles system, choosing from up to seven unique types of profiles that add bonuses to suit different play styles. The more skill points invested in certain skill groups, the higher the level of related profiles that will be unlocked. The Profiles menu can be accessed from the Main Menu.

Profiles can be swapped at any time, keeping the action fresh, giving numerous ways to approach every battle, and ensuring that there is never the feeling of being locked into a particular style of play. There is also the ability to create favorites, which represent a quick way to map three powers and a single profile to one slot. At any time during combat, Ryder can switch between four favorite slots, giving access to up to 12 powers and 4 profiles during the course of a single fight.

All profiles are unavailable and the menu space is occupied by a question mark Unknown Map Iconuntil SAM introduces Ryder to profiles in the SAM Node during A Better Beginning.

List of profiles

There are seven different profile types, each with six ranks of progression.

Corresponding Training

Each profile has a corresponding Training. When you select a specific training during Character customization, you unlock the corresponding profile at Rank 1.

Profile Corresponding Training
Soldier Security
Engineer Technician
Adept Biotic
Sentinel Leader
Vanguard Scrapper
Infiltrator Operative

The profile unlocked by the corresponding training will be available at Rank 1 for the entire game.

The Explorer profile doesn't correspond with any of the training choices. You can only unlock the Explorer profile by spending the required skill points.

Your corresponding profile will always be available at Rank 1 even if you reset your skill points at the Re-Spec Station in the Med Bay on the Tempest.

Notes

Resetting skill points also resets all profiles except the corresponding profile chosen during Character customization, which returns to Rank 1. Further ranks and all of the other previously attained profiles will need to be unlocked again by spending skill points.
