A Trail of Hope is the fifth priority ops mission. It is acquired while speaking with Jarun Tann in Pathfinder HQ on the Nexus. It is broken into two identically titled parts. The first part is marked as complete and moved to Completed Missions after Ryder completes either Helping Havarl's Scientists or Stage a Rescue, at which point the second entry appears in the Priority Ops section.

Description[ | ]
After establishing a new outpost, Tann and the Initiative have more faith in your abilities as Pathfinder. You're now free to follow the lead you discovered in the Remnant vault on Eos—the existence of a potentially active vault. This lead is your best hope to make Heleus a home.
You've made contact with the angara and met Evfra, the leader of the Resistance. However, the angara don't trust you and without their trust, they refuse to give you access to the vault on Aya.
Jaal has suggested two ways to gain the trust of Evfra and the angara. One mission is on the planet Havarl and one is on the planet Voeld.

- Enter the Angaran Resistance Headquarters
- Return to the Tempest
- Go to either Havarl or Voeld
Complete either Helping Havarl's Scientists or Meet the Resistance/On the Frontlines/Stage a Rescue to proceed.

Evfra has heard of your help for the angaran cause and he seems willing to trust you, at least a little more. Jaal says that Evfra has better information on the location of the Moshae, which could lead to getting access to the vault on Aya. You should reach out to him.
The Moshae has been betrayed by a spy and taken to an impenetrable kett facility on Voeld. A Resistance squad has been assigned to take you to the remote location and to infiltrate the facility with you. Meet them outside the Resistance base on the planet.
You have rescued the Moshae. She's agreed to take you into the Remnant vault on Aya so that you can see how why it's active and how it's connected to the network of vaults.

- Infiltrate the kett facility
- Enter facility through the vent
- Talk to the Resistance squad
- Search for the Moshae
- Find out where the pods go

- Talk to Jaal
- Chase the kett Cardinal
- Defeat the kett Cardinal
- Talk to Moshae Sjefa
- Escort the Moshae to the edge of the roof
- Hold out for the shuttle extraction
- Reach the shuttle
- Return with the Moshae to Aya
- Take the shuttle to the Aya vault
- Investigate the Aya vault
- Meet Evfra at the Resistance HQ

It's a good idea to acquire Recovering the Past and Trading Favors before returning to the Tempest and leaving Aya. Sohkaa Esof is to the right as Ryder exits the city. Avela Kjar is waiting near the docking ramp.
After the cutscene on the Tempest where Jaal describes the situations on Havarl and Voeld, both Helping Havarl's Scientists and Meet the Resistance are added to the Journal as Priority ops. By default, Helping Havarl's Scientists becomes the tracked mission.
During the mission to rescue the Moshae, Ryder must decide whether to destroy the facility or save the captive angara. Choosing to save the angara provides aid from the Angaran Resistance during Meridian: The Way Home. Destroying the facility provides no benefit. There is a narrative action prompt to allow Ryder to kill the Cardinal.
The final XP reward for rescuing the Moshae doesn't display onscreen. There may be a quick flash of the encounter XP for reaching the evacuation shuttle during the roof battle but the fixed +2300 is never shown.

The Statue of Archon RD item is a set of two large rectangular blocks buried in the floor near Commander Heckt, Owwin, and Skaelv during the objective Talk to the Resistance squad. There are two black soot spots on the floor near where this item is located. These two large blocks can be difficult to get the scanner to show them as large orange blocks ready to scan, and even when it does, they can't be easily scanned. Successful scanning requires moving to the upper level of this area and scanning down from a distance for the scanner to actually allow the scan to take place. The images below can be helpful in trying to line up the correct scanning orientation but they can potentially be scanned from multiple angles from above.
