Notes[ | ]

Elaaden - Sea of Ataraxia - Out of Gas - Mission Location

This mission is triggered by proximity to Hardy's encampment and his location can be approached from any direction. The easiest way to find the location of this mission is to head directly north of the forward station in the Sea of Ataraxia region.

When Ryder gets close to the location for the start of the mission, the Nomad will stutter and stop working for a moment with electrical arcs coursing over the surface of the vehicle. This is the first indication that the mission is getting close to starting. Continue driving north and the Nomad will have additional electrical arcs over the vehicle body then break down starting the mission.

Until the Nomad breaks down completely, extraction will still work, and the Nomad will continue to function as long as Ryder doesn't drive back to where it started to break down. HOWEVER, it is ill-advised to leave this area with the Nomad until the mission is complete. There are bugs with Fast Travel and Extraction that can show up if trying to leave before this mission has been fully triggered. This mission is very short and can be quickly completed.

After Hardy explains his racket, Ryder can choose to pay the credits or to just kill him. The price is 500 credits, though Hardy doesn't specify that. If Ryder doesn't have the money, Hardy will say "I guess we have to do this the hard way" and Ryder is left with no alternative to killing him. There is no difference in the mission reward.

The mission objectives will change slightly based on whether you choose to buy the part or take the part by force. Killing Hardy adds extra objectives but these lead to the same conclusion and rewards.
